Ernest Health Sending Clinical Team to Haiti to Assist with Disaster Relief
Ernest Health
has partnered with Healing Hands for Haiti to send a team of nurses and therapists
to work with earthquake survivors who sustained life changing injuries in January’s
earthquake. Our team of 32 volunteers will provide care and rehabilitation services
including education, use of adaptive equipment, manufacture and use of prosthetic
limbs in order to help individuals achieve and sustain maximum function. Clinicians
will spend two weeks in September working in a variety of patient care settings such
as outpatient therapy clinics, inpatient hospitals, and orphanages for disabled children.
Healing Hands for Haiti supports and encourages the Haitian people in providing quality
physical rehabilitation services for themselves in a spirit of self-determination,
independence and human dignity with a focus on empowering Haitians with disabilities.

Ernest Health Raises Funds for Salvation Army’s Kidz 2 Kamp Program
The employees at eight
Ernest Health hospitals held fundraising events to raise money for the Salvation Army’s
Kidz 2 Kamp Program in their local markets. Collectively, with Ernest Health, Inc.
matching funds, over $25,000 was raised. This donation enabled 102 children to attend
camp this summer. Through its Kidz 2 Kamp Program, the Salvation Army holds over
50 camps in the United States where children from low-income families have the opportunity
to enjoy fresh air, exercise and build new friendships. For many kids such an experience
is just a normal part of childhood. However, for the least–fortunate children in the
community, such opportunities are rare. Many participants are from disadvantaged families
and come from very difficult family and community environments. A caring staff promotes
a safe haven of learning and interacting with peers. The Kidz 2 Kamp camping experience
is more than a vacation – children learn new skills through wonderful programs designed
to stimulate their imagination, develop a deeper faith and improve their self–confidence.
