Dr. Talaat Al-Shuqairat Presents at NALTH Conference on Advanced Pulmonary Care
Dr. Talaat Al-Shuqairat (Dr. Al), a pulmonologist and Medical Director at Utah Valley Specialty Hospital, recently presented at the National Association of Long-Term Hospitals (NALTH) Medical Education Conference. His presentation, “A Weaning Dilemma,” was part of the LTCH Grand Rounds series, which brings together healthcare professionals to discuss complex clinical cases and share best practices in long-term acute care hospitals (LTACHs).
More than 30 participants attended Dr. Al’s session where he outlined the plan of care for a challenging patient case, discussed the deviations from the initial treatment plan, provided research supporting these clinical decisions, and illustrated a successful patient outcome.

Dr. Al’s background spans continents. He earned his medical degree from the University of Jordan School of Medicine in Amman, Jordan. Following his medical degree, he completed an internal medicine residency at Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut and a fellowship in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Sleep Medicine, with certifications in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine, and sleep medicine.
Currently serving as the Medical Director at Utah Valley Specialty Hospital, Dr. Al also is a clinical adjunct assistant professor at the Noorda School of Osteopathic Medicine and practices at Revere Health. He is known for his expertise in managing a wide range of lung diseases, including asthma, COPD, pulmonary hypertension, and lung fibrosis. In addition to his pulmonary practice, he is a certified sleep medicine specialist, treating conditions such as sleep apnea, insomnia, and narcolepsy.
