Ernest Health Rehabilitation Hospitals Recognized Among Nation’s Top 10 Percent

Ernest Health is pleased to announce that 13 of its medical rehabilitation hospitals have been ranked in the Top 10 percent of 886 inpatient rehabilitation facilities nationwide. The hospitals are recognized for their delivery of quality patient care that is effective, efficient, timely, and patient-centered.

The rankings are provided by Netsmart Technologies, Inc., the administrator of the world’s largest database for rehabilitation outcomes, based upon discharges between October 2023 to September 2024. Netsmart uses a program evaluation model (PEM) to determine the rankings, which includes a case-mix and severity-adjusted tool, providing facilities with a composite performance score and percentile ranking drawn from more than 80 percent of inpatient rehabilitation facilities in the country.

“Achieving a ranking in the Top 10 percent among our peers is a significant accomplishment,” says Jake Socha, CEO of Ernest Health. “This distinction reflects our hospitals’ unwavering commitment to providing exceptional rehabilitative care, focusing on maximizing recovery and optimizing outcomes for every patient. Our goal is to deliver world-class care, and we remain fully dedicated to this purpose.”

Since the inception of the awards program 18 years ago, nearly 85 percent of Ernest Health’s medical rehabilitation hospitals have earned this national distinction. Each hospital follows a patient-centric model, incorporating advanced rehabilitation techniques and technology to achieve clinical outcomes that exceed industry standards.

“We’re honored to play a role in raising care standards within the rehabilitative field,” Socha says. “It’s a privilege to be part of a dedicated movement to enhance rehabilitative care for patients across the United States.”

The original PEM Report Card was developed by the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR) based upon the Institute of Medicine’s 2006 recommendation to Congress that every Medicare provider be reimbursed on a pay-for-performance basis. Netsmart’s PEM Version 2 Report Card builds upon the success of the original version, incorporating quality measures to create comprehensive performance scores, with facilities ranked according to their composite results.
