BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Bloomington Regional Rehabilitation Hospital (BRRH) today announces plans for a major expansion to increase patient access and address a growing need for post-acute care services in the region. The project is currently in the planning phase, with construction expected to begin in late 2026 and completion anticipated in late 2027.

“Increasing specialized rehabilitation at our Bloomington campus is a vital way to serve our community,” says Jake Socha, President/CEO of Ernest Health. “This expansion allows them to support patients’ post-acute needs while maintaining the high-quality care we’ve proudly delivered for years.”

The expansion will add 10-12 inpatient rehabilitation beds, to bring the hospital’s total capacity to 50–52 beds. The plan includes construction of a new patient care unit, additional square footage, and the equipment needed to support increased capacity.

The hospital, located in Bloomington, Indiana, provides specialized rehabilitative care to patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, amputations, and other complex medical needs. A physician-led interdisciplinary team works closely with patients and families to create individualized care plans that maximize recovery and independence. Outpatient programs and services will remain unchanged.
