Outpatient Rehabilitation
Ernest Health hospitals provide outpatient rehabilitation services to those recovering from disabling diseases and injuries, such as orthopedic injuries, strokes, brain and spinal cord injuries. They also treat individuals who may have chronic illnesses such as cerebral palsy, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease.

A skilled team of licensed therapy professionals are here to help you reach your goals as quickly and safely as possible to get you back to your optimal condition. Your therapy services will be provided through an individualized treatment plan, with 1-to-1 treatment sessions under your therapists’ trusted guidance and expertise.
Those who are accepted into our outpatient therapy program have access to a well-equipped therapy gym, private treatment areas, daily living suite, heated aquatic therapy pool with hydraulic lift (varies by location), rehabilitative technology (varies by location), and a therapeutic courtyard for mobility training with ramps, stairs, gravel, dirt, curb, curb cut-outs, and wood decking.

PHYSICAL THERAPY (PT)
Physical Therapy treats individuals with muscle and skeletal injuries, chronic health conditions and neurologic disabilities who need to regain their range of motion, manage their pain, walk better, and improve their quality of life.
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY (OT)
Occupational Therapy treats individuals to regain their ability to perform daily living tasks like dressing, grooming, bathing, eating, etc. OT can help individuals learn how to use adaptive daily living equipment, help with life-management and work-related skills, and rehabilitate upper body disabilities and injuries.
SPEECH THERAPY (ST)
Speech Therapy treats individuals with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders who have been affected by a neurological event, such as brain damage, stroke, seizure, or cancer. ST can help with speech articulation issues, voice quality problems, language disorders, memory issues, swallowing issues along with prescribing an appropriate diet and speech-generating devices.

Many of our hospitals offer support groups for patients and caregivers to expand treatment and to allow those with common challenges to share experiences, explore resources, encourage one another, and to help teach each other how best to navigate their circumstances.
